Since opening 'Swinton Green Animal Experiences' in June life has just been so full on, Swinton Green is a 16 acre smallholding based just outside of Masham.
Here at Swinton Green our focus is animals, wildlife and outdoors, I love animals, if you have followed me for a few years now you will know I have a large team of animals which includes miniature shetlands, ponies, sheep, alpacas, rabbits, guinea pigs, dogs, tortoises and many other animals.
I've been running a blog online about the team for just over 9 years, I loved post everyday about my animals and sharing how much they have given a focus when I've needed one the most, when I was 17 I started a book about Little Alf my miniature shetland pony who stands at just 28 inches high and that has since spiralled into 19 books published and I'm still writing everyday about them.
Last year I moved to Swinton Green with my family and began to run experiences, this includes people coming along and meeting the animals from the books, education and getting hands on experiences with the animals. These experiences slots are personal experiences and 1-2-1 bookings.
It's been very busy since we opened to the public in June and now I'm fully booked until November, If I'm not running experiences you'll find me writing books, training the animals, gardening or just doing general jobs around the yard!
As well las loving animals here at Swinton Green we love gardening and have had lots of fruit and vegetables growing over summer, I hope to share some recipes I cook up in the Kitchen with the homegrown produce here. This October the carrots have just been harvested and the bunnies and ponies have been enjoying them!
Darker nights will soon be here and in the next few days the tortoise house will be completed, Arthur is our sulcata tortoise and he isn't a hibernating species so we have to make sure over winter he is kept nice and warm.
